Post Event Fallout

PREDICTIONS: 7 - 2

Pretty darn decent eh?Doerksen and Edgar were my misses. I'm happy Herman won, but Spencer pissed me off. Good job by Edgar though

Well, to the casual mma fan it seems that UFC 78 was not the most exciting in recent history. I, however, enjoyed this event. We saw the emergence of Frank Edgar. An awesome stoppage by Thiago Silva, who I assure you will one day be LHW Champion. Another strong performance from Ed Herman. And I enjoyed what was a very close battle between Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping. It seems however, that Rashad is the next in a line of fighters who have false promises shoved in their face by the UFC brass. They are now claiming that he is not the next in line to fight Rampage. The one fight I was upset with was Parisyan vs. Chonan. I really like Chonan and was hoping to see an exciting fight. Chonan's gameplan was terrible though. He kept getting in close enough to let Karo grapple with him, which is a bad idea for any WW. I was also very happy to see Gono take the submission of the night against the Barncat. Gono is definitely going to be exciting in the UFC. I believe Thiago Silva put in the best performance toward a title shot for his complete domination over the super over hyped Houston Alexander. Turns out power doesn't always win fights. Awesome

If anyone was less than thrilled with this event, dont fret. The super charged card of UFC 79 could raise the shorts of any MMA fan. So soak in the brief hangover (a month and a half actually) And get ready for one sick f'in event.

P.S. Has anybody else noticed that the UFC loves leaving the best events for the final weekend of the year. Last year Chuck vs Tito. Now Serra vs. Hughes, Chuck vs. Wanderlei, and a sick sick showdown between Sokodjou and Machida. I am already pumped!
